What is Mathcounts?

The MATHCOUNTS Club Program is a math enrichment initiative providing the structure and activities needed to encourage the formation of math clubs within schools. The program is designed to increase enthusiasm for math and to engage students using a variety of math activities. Our club is open to all middle school students at Friedell. There are monthly challenges and chances to win prizes.

The MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests. The program exists in all 50 states plus U.S. territories and the Department of Defense and State Department schools.  Friedell will be taking 10 students to the competition this school year.  Four students will be on the Friedell team and the other 6 will compete as individuals.

With over 20 years of experience, MATHCOUNTS is one of the country's largest and most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students. The MATHCOUNTS program has received two White House citations as an outstanding private sector initiative. Particularly exciting for our Mathletes has been the ESPN broadcast of the National Competition.
