Recommended Instruments and Accessories

Recommended instruments and accessories

There are many great string instrument makers.  The following is not an all-inclusive list, but rather recommendations based on my observations of what has worked for students at Friedell.  I always recommend visiting a violin shop, as string instruments are made by hand and therefore vary quite a bit.  Likewise, as they come in many sizes, you will want to have your son/daughter measured for the instrument before making a purchase.

Beginner or intermediate quality are great. Be sure to know your size!

Samuel Eastman
Paul A. Schmitt
Franz Hoffmann
Carlo Lamberti

Fom shoulder rests have often broken in the first year.

Cello strap (to hold the cello in place):

Rock stop, any brand will do (donut-like object that anchors the bass)
Pops rosin

All students should have a folding stand at home to assist with proper posture when practicing.
